Street Art {Antarctic Connections}

PPAC #18 and Lens Artist Photo Challenge #170

While I was in Hobart last weekend, I took the opportunity to photograph this street art that seems to me, a tribute to Antarctica. Hobart has a strong connection to Antarctica being one of only 5 cities worldwide that are known as ‘gateways’ to the icy continent. Unfortunately, after an extensive search online, I was unable to find any information about this artwork.

I had every intention of taking a photo of the entire installment but as I was exiting the portico of the building I gave three girls, walking past, an awful fright by jumping off the step in front of them. Unintentional, of course. Their collective gasp of shock made me gasp in shock and then there was an apology, and ‘whoops’, I forgot all about the final photo.

      1. Is he sure because the temperature doesn’t match does it? I have never been to Tassie but expect a climate somewhat like England only warmer than it was when I was there. “The average maximum daily summer temperatures in Tasmania are between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius and winter daily temperatures sit between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius” Warmer than England on the whole. Cooler than here and much warmer than the Riviera.
